The Exeter City family is deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Robert “Evo” Eveleigh, a cherished colleague, devoted husband and father, and an inspiration to all who knew him. Pete passed away yesterday morning, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a diagnosis he faced with remarkable strength since November 2022.
Pete was a well-known and highly respected member of staff at Exeter City Community Trust, where his warmth, energy, and unwavering positivity left a lasting impression. To many, he was far more than a colleague—he was a true friend and one of life’s genuinely good people. Kind-hearted, selfless, and deeply committed to helping others, Pete embodied the very spirit of community that defines the Exeter City family.
Even in the face of such an inhumane and devastating disease, Pete fought valiantly until the very end. His resilience, courage, and determination became a beacon of hope and purpose. He gave everything he had, confronting each challenge with dignity and an unbreakable spirit. Though MND may have claimed his body, it could never diminish his character, his love for his family, or the inspiration he instilled in so many.
Pete’s journey has strengthened a collective resolve to continue raising awareness and supporting efforts to combat Motor Neurone Disease. His life and legacy now stand as a powerful reminder of why this fight matters—to build a future where no other individual or family must endure the pain and suffering that he and his loved ones faced. While this cruel disease may have won this battle, it will not win the war. Pete’s spirit lives on in every act of kindness, every show of unity, and every step taken toward progress.
Above all, Pete was a devoted husband to Jess and a proud father to their young son, Oliver. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and they remain at the heart of our thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Jess, Oliver, and all of Pete’s family and friends.
Pete will be profoundly missed across the entire Exeter City community, but his legacy of courage, compassion, and positivity will endure. Rest easy, Evo. Your spirit will forever remain part of us.
