With profound sorrow and heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Simon James “Sam” Brain, who died peacefully at his home in Rosenannon on 16th February 2026, aged 58, following a far too brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sam was the beloved husband, best friend, and true soulmate of Michelle. Their partnership was built on unwavering love, laughter, and deep companionship—an extraordinary bond that will endure beyond his passing. He was a devoted and loving father to Harrison and Frankie, a role he cherished above all others. To his family, he was simply the very best they could have ever hoped for—a constant source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. His children’s words echo what so many feel: they would choose him in every lifetime, even if it meant having to say goodbye too soon each time.
He was loved wholeheartedly by his extended family and will forever be remembered by them as a true legend. Sam’s presence was larger than life—not because he demanded attention, but because he gave so much of himself to others. He possessed a rare combination of strength and gentleness, earning him the affectionate description of a “gentle giant.” His kindness was instinctive, his generosity unmatched, and his loyalty unwavering.
Throughout his life, Sam touched countless people. As a coach for the Camels rugby team, he inspired teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship in young players, many of whom will carry his lessons with them for years to come. Professionally, he built strong and lasting relationships, expanding his network and forming friendships that spanned continents. Whether through work, sport, or travel, Sam connected with people effortlessly, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.
Even in the face of illness, he faced each day with quiet courage and dignity. His strength throughout his battle with pancreatic cancer reflected the resilience that defined his character.
In accordance with Sam’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable man he was.
Though his time with us was far too short, Sam’s legacy of love, generosity, and integrity will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
