We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Guy F. Riekeman, D.C. (’72), a towering figure in chiropractic education and a lifelong champion of the profession he so passionately served. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of modern chiropractic, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
A 1972 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Riekeman went on to serve as the institution’s eighth president from 1998 to 2004. During his tenure, he led with vision, courage, and unwavering conviction, helping to guide the College through a pivotal chapter in its history. His leadership was defined by energy, clarity of purpose, and a steadfast commitment to advancing chiropractic education and strengthening the profession’s global impact.
Following his presidency at Palmer, Dr. Riekeman continued his extraordinary work at Life University, where he remained a dynamic force in leadership and education. Across every role he held, he was recognized not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his ability to inspire those around him. He possessed a rare combination of strategic insight, heartfelt passion, and magnetic presence that elevated every room and every stage he stepped onto.
Dr. Riekeman was widely regarded as one of the most compelling public speakers in chiropractic. His words carried both authority and warmth, blending history, vision, and conviction into messages that energized audiences worldwide. He was a mentor to many, generous with his time and encouragement, and deeply invested in the growth of students, colleagues, and future leaders.
Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for his charisma, humor, and genuine kindness. He valued relationships deeply and made people feel seen, heard, and inspired. Conversations with him were rich with stories, wisdom, and an unmistakable love for chiropractic and life itself.
As Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D., Chancellor and CEO of Palmer College of Chiropractic, shared, Dr. Riekeman will be remembered as a passionate advocate who advanced the visibility and credibility of the profession. On behalf of the chiropractic community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and former students.
Chiropractic has lost a legend. Humanity has lost a remarkable leader. His legacy, however, endures—steadfast, inspiring, and unforgettable. Rest in peace, Dr. Riekeman. Your impact on our beloved profession is immeasurable, and you will be greatly missed.
